ANGELICA {ANGELICA ARCHANGELICA) – GENERAL INFORMATION

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

The fresh plant extract has a marvellous effect on the digestion, helping to overcome loss of appetite, irritation of the stomach lining and also stomach cramps. For these complaints, take ten drops in a little water three times a day, half an hour before meals. Moreover, it is excellent for bronchial and deep-seated catarrh if a few drops are taken with a little honey once an hour.

The seeds of angelica are also used. For example, a liqueur can be made from them. And here is the recipe for the genuine angelica liqueur known as ‘Vespetro’:

Angelica seeds (or chopped angelica root, if you are unable to obtain the seeds) 60g (2 oz) Fennel seeds 8g (V* oz) Anise seeds 8g (Ó4 oz) Coriander seeds 6g {Vs oz)

Grind all the seeds together in a mill or crush in a mortar, put in a bottle and add 200 g (8 fl. oz) of pure alcohol. After eight days strain the mixture through muslin or cotton wool and mix it with a solution of 1-1.5 litres (2Óã pints) of water to which 500 g (lib) sugar (preferably grape sugar) has been added. And there you have it!

There, is no better or more pleasant remedy for digestive upsets or flatulence. Let us imagine a monastery in the Middle Ages. There the monks would enjoy a glass of this golden drink before appearing for duty in the morning. Late in the evening a guest arriving with an upset or chilled stomach would be given a glass of ‘Vespe-tro’, and just a small sip would have a quicker and better effect than any of today’s chemical liquids or tablets.

DISEASES OF THE NAILS – TREATMENT

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

It is one of nature’s wonders that the body is able to use silica and other minerals to provide the toes and fingers with tough horny plates. By diseases of the nails I do not mean deformities of the nails and diseases of the nail roots caused by the use of nail polish and manicures etc. The nails and hair are usually an indication of the person’s general condition of health. As a rule, those who suffer from metabolic disorders have neither strong nails nor healthy-looking hair. The nails and hair become brittle and lose their natural structure when there is a deficiency of minerals and trace elements. In such cases, the only worthwhile thing to do is to treat the basic cause of the problem.

A simple inflammation of the cuticle can be treated successfully with Bioforce Cream, Molkosan and Echinaforce. For the treatment of more serious cases of inflammation, for example onychia, use horseradish tincture instead of Molkosan. Finally, eating food that is rich in calcium and silica is an excellent way to strengthen the nails, as is the supplementary intake of Urticalcin and Gale-opsis.

OUR TEETH – SHOULD WE CLEAN OUR TEETH?

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Certainly we should, for we no longer possess natural resistance to tooth decay and therefore have to assist nature mechanically to remove all food particles, plaque and undesirable bacteria from the surface and crevices of the teeth.

To ensure healthy teeth, we should adopt a natural diet. This is the first decisive step. It is essential to have a wholesome diet of natural foods and also plenty of exercise in the open air and sunshine. The teeth will then be able to do their work for an entire lifetime. As regards proper nutrition, it is important to choose wholegrain or wholemeal (wholewheat) bread that contains rye in addition to wheat, since rye is rich in fluoride which is necessary for the development of strong tooth enamel. Among some tried and tested breads are ‘Walliser Roggenbrot’ (100 per cent rye bread made in Switzerland), Vogel’s wholegrain flake bread, Risopan crispbread and ‘Waerlandbrot’. Other similar breads may also be available in your locality.

However, because our bodies have become degenerated through the introduction of modern foods, we must, as a second step, go in for special tooth care. Even if we occasionally eat some black rye or wholegrain bread, this will not make our teeth any healthier. True, there are still some people who have good teeth, even among Europeans, but if an analysis is made of their diet it will be found that it is based on wholefoods and that they follow a natural way of life. In the mountain areas of the Swiss canton Valais the people still eat a famous dark rye bread, and this is no doubt one reason why they seem to have excellent teeth. Vigorous chewing gives the jaw muscles plenty of exercise, and this kind of natural massage assures better blood circulation. There must be other countries, too, where in some areas the population lives primarily on natural food and has good teeth as a result.

NATURE DOCTOR – PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES (INTRODUCTION)

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

If you insist on having a birthmark removed surgically, go on a strict liver diet in preparation for the operation. The best diet is one that serves as nutritional therapy for cancer patients. Take Petaforce at the same time, since this remedy helps to prevent metastases. The point to remember is that you should not simply go to have the mark cut away without first preparing the body in a prophylactic sense. Nor is it advisable to have a little tissue cut out for examination (biopsy) unless the same precautionary measures have been carefully observed and the liver diet adhered to consistently for one or two months. In this case, too, it is necessary to take Petaforce as a precaution to avoid the formation of metastases. Following this advice could certainly save many a person from disaster, possibly even from death.

In lectures and medical literature doctors keep pointing out that it is important to begin treatment early whenever cancer is suspected. But what is meant by ‘early’? There are many people who regularly visit their doctor, are carefully examined, and yet fail to prevent what is going on in the body which neither they nor the doctor can detect or foresee. Hence the question, ‘What should you do to successfully prevent cancer?’ Providing an answer to this question is not at all easy. In our modern times there are too many factors that disturb the normal cell in its biological balance, changing a normal cell into a cancerous one. Mutation, the process of a healthy cell changing into a sick or degenerated one, is still a mystery and all efforts to solve it have so far been unsuccessful.

ARTHRITIS AND GOUT – TOMATOES

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Can Tomatoes Cause Cancer and Arthritis? One often hears or reads in the newspaper that eating tomatoes encourages cancer, meaning that tomatoes could cause malignant growths. Even doctors often voice this opinion, which is based on various erroneous conclusions of certain researchers. Many patients, especially those whose parents or grandparents had cancer, ask me: ‘What about tomatoes? Can I eat them?’

Cancer mortality has absolutely nothing to do with eating tomatoes. Research carried out by careful investigators has shown that cancer mortality is highest in those countries where the intake of protein, particularly animal protein, is excessive. A diet in which protein predominates can ultimately lead to the development of cancer and arthritis, especially when a predisposition towards these conditions, either inherited or acquired by inadequate nutrition, already exists.

GUARDING AGAINST THE CONSEQUENCES OF INFECTIOUS – IMPORTANT EFFORTS

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

It is therefore most important that every effort be made to ensure the complete excretion of toxins in all cases of infectious disease. The following three main points must be observed:

Elimination through the skin. The patient should be encouraged to perspire by applying hot packs, taking hot showers etc. The Kneipp treatment might also be used.

Elimination through the kidneys. This can be encouraged by means of a simple kidney remedy, such as tea made from goldenrod or parsley, or any other natural remedy which acts to stimulate the kidneys. Onion poultices are also effective for this.

Elimination through the bowels. Fever usually tends to dry up the bowels. To stimulate movement, use simple natural remedies, for example linseed tea, psyllium seed, manna stick tea (Cassia fistula), soaked figs or prunes. A diet consisting solely of fruit juice is also excellent. While the infectious disease lasts, it is advisable to refrain from eating protein; nothing but fruit juices and vegetable juices is indicated.

If you pay close attention to these three points, you can avoid the complications often experienced as a result of ineptly treated infectious disease.

INFLAMMATION OF THE EAR (OTITIS)

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

An earache should never be taken lightly as serious illness can result from it. First of all, apply a poultice to the neck; even if it is only onions the effect will be beneficial. Do not use chemist’s ear drops; rather, go on a fruit diet and avoid all highly seasoned and heavy foods for a few weeks. See your doctor for syringing, which may be done with infusions of ribwort, camomile, marigold or lemon balm.

If a throbbing sensation is felt deep down in the ear, or if the pain is severe on one side, particularly in the right ear, and gets worse at night, Calcarea carbonica 6x (Calcium carbonicum Hahnemann) will help to soothe it. The patient should receive competent treatment at this stage, because inflammation of the middle ear {Otitis media) can develop, and this is more serious than many people think. If the pus, instead of breaking through the eardrum and draining from the ear canal, actually perforates the thin bone wall discharging into the cranial cavity, it may spread to the mastoid air cells and reach the covering of the brain and the brain itself – resulting in a critical condition.

Improperly treated infection of the middle ear can result in meningitis. Serious problems of the ear and the middle ear are often created by incompletely treated or suppressed infectious diseases such as scarlet fever, measles, whooping cough, diphtheria, influenza and tonsillitis, because they scatter their viruses and toxins throughout the body. Hence, if a relapse is to be avoided, elimination of the toxins is of the utmost importance. Improper treatment can affect the auditory nerves and cause loss of hearing; these nerves may degenerate or atrophy altogether and lead to complete deafness.

HEADACHES – THEIR CAUSES AND TREATMENTS 2

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Headaches can also be caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain. In this case we recommend both Petadolor and Ginkgol biloba, also known as maidenhair tree. The leaves of this tree] contain active properties that can do wonders for the cerebral blood supply.

Physical therapy should not be forgotten either. Relief is often obtained from warm showers directed on the nape of the neck and the spine, as well as massaging with Toxeucal Massage Oil. If the headaches stem from an upset digestive system, warm showers directed on the stomach are the answer to alleviating the pain.

Onion, horseradish or cabbage leaf poultices can be applied to the back of the neck in order to combat headaches successfully.!

Whatever you do, natural treatments and remedies will prove more effective than chemical drugs, which merely dull the pain. It is of fundamental importance to find the cause of the headache and to treat it accordingly.

WHOOPING COUGH

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Some people still consider whooping cough to be a minor ailment, giving little thought to the distressing, hacking cough. It is, however, very important to give special attention to whooping cough, since it can cause serious complications if it is not treated properly, and may lead to permanent damage. There are a number of herbal and homoeopathic remedies for whooping cough and parents should not fail to make use of these natural treatments. Although no specific medicine exists that arrests and cures the illness completely in a given time, these remedies can reduce the intensity and duration of the attacks. First, the toxins of the pathogenic organisms have to be eliminated, as in all infectious diseases. It is also useful to do something about the patient’s physical weakness so as not to encourage other infections. Whooping cough is usually followed by another illness, which is why it is important to build up the patient’s general state of health as a prevention. In milder cases, the spasms will disappear after a few days.

SKIN CARE

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

For cleansing the skin it is best to use a mild, super-fatted soap, ‘baby soap’. Remember, the daily use of soap is not absolutely necessary. After bathing the baby a good skin oil should then be applied, but one that does not contain strong essential oils. One of the best is St John’s wort oil with a tiny amount of mandarine, orange or lemon oil added {Bioforce Body Oil).

It is enough to oil the baby’s whole body twice a week. The legs may be oiled every day, using St John’s wort oil. Oiling is always better than powdering, as powder blocks the pores, absorbs the urine and encourages the growth of bacteria. Experience has shown that oiling is the better way and that it also prevents sores. If redness or soreness should appear, rub the skin lightly with a good woolfat cream, either genuine lanolin or Bioforce Cream, which also contains St John’s wort oil.
